We are delighted that you found this Thriving Turtles website! The site is devoted to helping resource and encourage Christians who are returning to China after a time overseas. If this is you, we hope the articles and content you find here will be useful as you prepare. We pray you will not simply survive the challenging transition, but thrive in your walk with the Lord and go on be a blessing to your families, society and the world. We also aim to resource those who are serving returning brothers and sisters. The contents of this site address key issues returnees face on return, including the effects of reverse culture shock, challenges they may face in the family, workplace and in finding and integrating into a church.
This blog post represents the first of what will be monthly posts, which highlight certain articles and topics featured on the site. This month we want to especially recommend to you a recent edition of the ChinaSource Quarterly which is focused on “Returnee” issues from December 2024. We recommend to you the lead article, “From ‘Run’ to Return”, as a place to start. It is a broad overview of where we have come from in ministering to returnees, current trends and challenges returnees are facing. We hope you will take time to have a look at this series of helpful articles.
