This 3rd edition of the Returnee Handbook (海归手册) is the first version published in a side-by-side Chinese/English format. It is designed to be used as a workbook for returnees themselves, and also for those ministering to returnees. Using the Handbook, anyone can journey with their returning Christian friends as they prepare themselves for the challenges and opportunities ahead. It touches on the main issues that returnees will face including, reverse culture shock, family issues, workplace challenges and the church. Each chapter ends with discussion and reflection questions to help the returnee process what they have learned and assess the best ways they can invest their remaining time overseas in preparing. There are encouraging and challenging testimonies of those who have already faced the challenge of returning and biblical examples of returnees like Moses, and Ruth. Our purpose is to help returning Christians prepare and equip themselves and to encourage them to bring the gospel back to their home country with a sense of calling from God. We want to see returnee Christians continue to grow in their faith and integrate into local churches and fellowship groups, commit themselves to ministry, and engage in mission.
